A DSP QUestion

I recently purchased an '00 528i with the standard audio system and would like to upgrade to the factory DSP system. From what I have read, the non DSP labelled head unit should be compatable after the connection of the coax cable to the proper amp.

What I would like to know from those more knowledgeable that myself is if this is in fact true, what the BMW part number of the amp is and about how much it will set me back. I do realize that the premium system has a subwoofer, but I would imagine that this could be added as well. Has anyone performed this conversion?

Most of the ports I have read are from owners upgrade FROM an existing DSP system.

Ok, im sure its all compatible as long as you got the DSP amp and DSP headunit.. BUT why do you want the DSP stuff?

If your going for sound quality and no extra integrated features into the car - i would highly suggest an AFTERMARKET stereo setup which i garuantee would sound better and probably be cheaper - the dsp stuff is nice but nothing ever matches the quality of the aftermarket stereo equip.

Until the warranty expires I am reluctant to add any aftermarket components. I though keeping it "stock" would be a good short term upgrade.

BMW cannot void the warranty due to installation of aftermarket audio equipment. The only way they can void the warranty is if an aftermarket product caused something else to fail that otherwise wouldn't have.
