Does anyone know, or know of a web site that tells the audio specs of the BMW 325i 93 Convertible? Like the radio, amplifier, and speaker specs? I want to upgrade my audio system, but am extremely new to car audio (and cars in general) and am trying to research whatever I can so I can understand all this stuff.
Also, I'm almost positive that my car is a 93, but what is a sure-fire way to find out the year of your car? Thanks!
For car audio check out CRUTCHFIELD.COM. They will tell you what you can get that fits your year/model. As for finding out what year you have, check your title. If you dont have that run the vin# on carfax..
well...
you can go to crutchfield and put in your information!!(92-98 bmw 3 series' are the same)
or
you can post a topic in the "audio section"
or
i know you have 4" speakers in the rear deck, 5 1/4" speakers in the front kick panel, and if you have the premium stereo... then you have a 3" and a 1" speaker in your doors... hope this helps!!!
also... to find out if you have a amp( which i am sure you do) you can pull down the lining of your trunk carpet and see if its under the carpet on the back left side of your car...
for the year pop your hood and there will be a "maintance" sticker somewhere on the hood or fender wells it will say somthin about the e.p.a. and it will tell your year it also has displacement spark plug gaps and some other stuff these are on all cars not just our bimmers.
i can give you most of the info you need. the speaker sizes he listed are for a sedan but they should still be the same in your car. I would stick with an alpine deck, i have had a couple and they by far sound the best. infinity speakers sound pretty good. if you want an amp, again alpine sound good, audiobahn also. as far as subs, with the small speaker sizes it is a good idea. i have two tens. i had one for a long time it sounded great. if you have nemore questions just let me kno.
alpine just got the new cd players in!! and they are hot!! cheap too.. check it out on cructhfield.com .... and u get free shipping with most purchases!!
My 94 325is has 2 visible in the door a 1" and a 3" then if you look down underneath your dash on the side you will see the kick panel speaker(i thought it was a 4" but crutchfield says they are 5 1/4"). Yes the are 3 way separates up front. In back you have two more on the back deck( I thought these were 5 1/4" but they are 4" to crutchfield). I guess I had my kick panels and rar deck sizes confused. I also believe that all BMWs come with a factory amp which is waht the previous posts are talking about. I have not changed out my speakers yet just looked to see what they were. The head unit is up to you many people like different ones. I personally did not ant one that looks out of place inteh car so went with a Clarion. Great sound and looks somewhat factory(all black with amber lighting). The Alpines are have great sound also.
Start looking around in the audio forum and you will find out a lot of info.
Aight first off..... I'm gonna move this to the audio forum... secondly... next time... read this before you post in the E36 forum again...
Thanks and good luck,
Les
