A couple of Q's !

First off, i've just replaced the front components of my E46 Saloon with Mb Quart 6" and its made a good increase in sound quality even with the standard business headunit. What would be the best choice to replace the rear speakers, ie. components, midrange or midbass speakers ?
I'm going to be replacing the headunit in the future with an Alpine 4x60w so I won't have the hassels of installing amps and had no plans to install any subs !
Also could anybody post some pictures of aftermarket headunits in E46's so I can see what it looks like with the facia adapter !
And lastly does anybody know if i bought an Alpine headunit from the USA would it work alright in the UK ?

Yes, American Head units are OK in UK, but if anything goes wrong the warranty will almost certainly be void. This has never put me off in the past though!

I also have an E46, and have components up front, and a sub in the back. I never bothered with the rear speakers. However, if you don't want a sub then the rear speakers are the best option.

What I would do is get another set of the MB Quarts and install the bass and crossover, but leave out the tweeters. This will leave you with a better sound stage at the front, and obviously the rear and front will match tonally.

Also, in the rear there is a sort of bucket thing that the speakers sit on. DO NOT REMOVE THIS. It also supportd the rear shelf! In the bottom of the bucket there is some carpet. Remove the carpet as it restricts air flow. This will help the bass.

I'm in agreeance with PMB. If you have no plans for a sub, and you like stereo imaging, you could use your rear speaker location for midbass drivers.
