CD Changer Help

I have a BMW Business head unit and BMW Changer (I think it is actually Alpine). I want to change the head unit for something much better but I still want to retain the CD changer. What are my options?

I am changing the head unit mainly so I can add Amps, sub etc. The current one I have is a Sony. Is there any compatibility there?

blitzsafe makes an aftermarket to factory adapter, but I don't think anyone makes a factory to aftermarket adapter.

Depending on the year of your car though, the changer may be ai-net and would work with a new alpine HU.

if you want another one with possibilitys for ampifiers etc, you man not mount a orginal. You can get a plastic cover to cover the hole, and put any kind of player in it. Then you may mount amplifiers etc.

But then you dont can use the orginal panel door,, so thats why i want to buy an player.

The car is a 1999 E46, 328iSE. The head unit is the standard cassette "thing". To be honest ai will probably keep the head unit to put back in when I sell the car. I already have the replacement facia, I just really want to keep the changer if I can. It would seem such a waist having it sat there doing nothing for several years.

thats why you sell it after you install a new HU. When it comes time to trade in, that will give an extra $200, tops.
