I have a 2001 3.30i, with the Harmon Kardon system and the 12 speakers. Anyways, I was under the impression that my sound system could play MP3 CDs, but when I tried playing one that I made I got " CD ERROR". I'm guessing that I was wrong and that the audio system can't play MP3 CDs, but can someone confirm?
no the stock bmw cd system will not allow mp3 cd's or direct mp3 player hook up unless u rewire it... umm upgrade your cd player. OR if ur using an mp3 player maybe get a "brodcaster" so u can listen to it over the radio.

yah your best bet is to use something like an ipod through your auxillary inputs in your reciever if you have them, or thru the tape deck, or a radio broadcaster if you want to have alot of music at hand,
like everyone else said i don't think any of the factory bmw cd players play mp3 cds
