BMW Tweeters /Plastic Ring

I'm looking to replace the small front speakers in both the driver and passenger side doors of my 92 325i.

I noticed there is a small plastic ring around the speaker panel, that looks if I were to remove it that it would break, I want to be able to replace the speaker and I guess replace the plastic ring as well, I dont want the speaker to pretrude out of the door, anyideas on where I could find these rings?


Also guys if you could any reccomendations on changing the audio system in a 92 325i, I'm looking to upgrade everything speakers and all, maby add 6disc changer as well, I'm not looking anything to extream no looking to shake the earth just something that will bring out nice clean bass and highs, so any reccomendations would be greatly appreciated.

to change the speakers in the door you have to remove them from the rear, which means you have to remove the door panel.

You don't have to touch the plastic rings to replace the speakers. I don't believe they can be replaced btw, most people buy an aluminum cover or the likes to disguise broken ones.

el pres is right you have to take the whole speaker out its all attached in the back of the panel. When i bought my car it had a speaker ring that was broken and I had dealership replace it under warranty they had to replace whole speaker.

just replaced my doorspeakers in the smae car all i did was buy some 3.5 infinitys and took the old tube cut it down and then slipped a 4inch circle of fiberglass over it ( a little plastic plastic epoxy) that sanwinched the door panel betweeen the outside ring and the fiberglass ring then mounted the speaker on the fiberglas and bam digity bam ure done. Yea it sucks, I got new speakers in my e36, and one of the plastic rings around the tweeters broke, and BMW said i have to pay fuckin 200 dollars to get a whole new crappy HK speaker, such a rip off, so now the right side of my car looks like crap cuz half the ring is missin...

Actually you can replace the trim around the two door speakers, they have sweet replacements. Once i've finished with my exterior, i'm gonna go with THESE type of things for the interior...

check the mounting depth on the new speakers, you need an almost flat speaker... becuase the glass is right behind it. Most 3.5" speakers are designed for the dash so depth isnt a big issue, but since you are putting them on the doors it nees to be a lil thinner. Also, the speaker grille is attached to the speaker, so when you replace, you might want to repaint the grille on the new speaker or find away to keep your old grille
