On my '06 3 series, when playing an MP3 cd the system sometimes auto switches over to the radio (no I'm not accidently hitting the button on the wheel... thought that myself at first).

Anyone know if this is an issue with how the MP3's are burned, or something I actually need to address with the dealership?

I've seen the color (the burning side) of the CDr's mess with cd players, not reading them right and such, but never switch to radio. That's kind of a strange one. If you are using a colored disc, you may want to try a different brand to see if it still does it. What happens is the laser starts out red, bounces off a blue-backed cd (or whatever) and the receiving eye gets hit with a purple bit of information instead of red, its not really sure what to do with a purple light.

If no one else pipes in with an answer, I'd take it to the dealer and ask them.

I thought it was the emergency system they have built into the radios here for awhile. My old 5 series radio will turn up the volume and force you to listen to traffic reports. Speaking little to no German the reports mean nothing On this one it switches to radio in the middle of songs... not often, but it is becoming annoying.

Anyway, my only other thought was maybe a certain error on read from the CD would throw it back into radio mode... very odd for sure.

Oh well, I need to go to the dealership and yell at them anyway, there's a small spot in the corner of my hood where you can see the paint missed covering the primer before the clearcoat layer. Should be fun dealing with it, since the warrenties are different here vs' the bumper to bumper back in the states.
