Hi All,
I have BMW 328i 1995 model sport, I did FM modulation for the radio but the reception is very noisy, I need to know the antenna location as I could not find it.
it is part of the defrost grid... be sure the antenna is properly connected making sure the connections to the window is solid. and perhaps check the antenna unit it self... its hidden in the pillar next to the window on the drivers side. (at least in my car.)
Thanks I will do that, the problem I have is this car imported from Japan, so thier frequencies different from my region, I got FM modulator works ok with me but on some places it is real mess, anyone have a better idea than this modulator and other than changing the player itself?
The Radio FM range from 76MHz to 90MHz at is comming from Japan, my region use the range 88MHz to 108MHz, so I added a modulation or maybe the name is wrong which shift the range from Antenna to be received by the Radio with no issues, the problem is sometimes there is big distortions.
FM modulators dont work very well. It is most likely the mod. and not your car. Your modulator should be adjustable, try a few different frequencies and drive around. The static you hear is most likely interference from an outside source.
IF trying a few different frequencies doesnt help, replace your modulator. They are almost always the problem in a such a situation.
Seems I will need to change this player even it looks great as it comes with car, so do anyone recommend a certain cool player which fits with no problem on the car (I mean for connections and so on) and also if the CD changer which comes with car will be used or I have to get a new one?
Now I am a little confused. Are you saying you just want to improve the radio's reception? An FM modulator is used in conjunction with an external piece of gear such as a CD Changer or DVD player.
If your FM reception is poor, it is most likely your radio. The FM antenna is pretty simple and reliable. Did you have another radio that worked fine prior to your new radio or did you recently purchase the car?
