Bigger Speakers in E36

Is there anyway i can put bigger speakers in the shelf at the back of my 325 to replace the original nokia speakers, i already have a amp and sub enclosure in the boot but would like to improve the speakers all round.

this should be in the audio form.

but installing 6x9s would require some cutting of the rear deck.

You can but an adaptor from autoleads for under £20 which converts bigger speakers and uses the original holes. Do not cut out the metal shelf as this will ruin your car. Alternativaly do what I done and get some MDF and fix that under your shelf and have whatever speakers attached to the bottom of the board.

I had no trouble getting fosgate 6x9's in my rear deck. I did have to take the factory tweeter out though.

MDF shelf under the metal shelf? does this not give alot of vibration though?,
