I think you'd be more restricted by your budget than the choice of colour.
Try Kelkoo.com and check the options according to price.

i got a panasonic head unit with the ghost... the red looks like OEM on it, plus it has a remote, touch screen, and can play mp3s. It looks like there is nothing there when it is off. I paid about $250 on it on ebay
If you want high quality and an oem look, go with Nakamichi. The illumination and button lettering are spot on with BMW's color, and type. That is what I have and am VERY happy. They aren't cheap, but are worth it, and seem proper in a BMW....{CLICK HERE}

+ they sound great.
any specific ones (model number) that complement my dash/obd?
If you can find one, the 7894s are great. Originally $400, but they are a few years old now. you can probably swing one for about $150. Pics are in the pinned thread.

Mstar, the Alpine 7894 is a good deck, but no longer made. There are other Alpine models that also feature dual illumination, but are no longer in production. You may be able to find these used online somewhere.
I am not a fan of the ghostface by Panasonic (sorry Cisco), as I sell them, and have had repeated issues with the touch screen.
If you don't have the money for Nakamichi, try and find a used Alpine.
