Any Pics Of E39 Hu Install

any1 have pics of ther HU in a E39 2001 520 or similar? im interested in upgrading the stock radio but im not sure how it would look. will a blanking plate make the center console look really crap? im relativly happy with the sound right now but havin a new HU would open up some options but not if the general look of the interior looks crappy.

How will it look? One word: ugly.

I have seen pics before, I'll see if I can dig them up, but not many people do it because it looks horrible.

thanks, for tryin to find pics. im wary too about the looks. outside looks nice with 18"s, cleared lights and lip spoiler but no fancy stereo inside.

My dad put a new HU in his e34... and it doesn't look too good. I'd take a pic but I don't have my camera right now. Is that your car in your avatar? With the everything so walled in on the e36's, you'd have this big thing popping out of the middle. Yuck. I'd suggest a changer in the trunk instead, more theft-proof anyways.

Yeah, but thats no where near as conveinient. I'm looking for an HU too(I'm gonna be spending lots of cash on my car for the next while. Just stuff I have wanted to do/ have to do) And nothing looks good in the damn dash. Some Alpines and some Clarions have the same color, but they are no where near as wide as the radio/tape player. It's just gonna be one of those things you are gonna have to deal with unless you wanna have something custom made into the dash.

yea thats my car. e39 is great but bmw never really thought bout ppl wantin to put in a new HU. iv only seen one pic of an install but itll never look good unless u do it yourself and do like some kind of cover to hide the HU.
