ummm no... every amplifier, headunit, speaker, everything that Rockwood/Kenford has ever made has been poo-poo. This is a market that takes advantage of people that are new to the audio world and by messing with the names of other legit companies and making EXTREMELY inexpensive stuff that is sure to break on you.

I've seen Alphine, Alfine, Rockwood, Kenford, JBC (Just Be Cool), and I'm sure others that I cant think of right now. Stick with a name brand, not some fly-by-night components. You will be much happier in the end.

I noticed you were looking at an EQ. Is there a specific reason you want an EQ. With the proper components and a good installation, you shouldnt need one. Ive always called EQ's a bandaid for audio. You are just covering up the problem rather than fixing it. Properly placed components (and not neccesarily where the factory put them) will sound great in most cars (given ample amounts of power). Good luck in your endeavors. Hope that helps...

actually most of the decent headunits have a better EQ in them than what a half-din seperate piece would get you. Really unless you spend (retail) 150-200+, you really arent getting a good EQ. IMHO

Get an Eclipse 55040 or new model. I think you can pic of that $600 HU for about $200 on ebay. Thats a steal. Its got 3 sets of 8volt preamp. They are the backbone of my stereo in my car. I wouldn't trust anything less.

Check their website too for all the lastest.

The 55040 should have 5 volt preouts. The 5 in the model number denotes that. In any case 5 volts is a lot of voltage considering most only have 2. Eclipse have a pretty neat numbering system just like our cars.

For instance the number breakdown in their new lineup:

CD8454: "8" volts on the RCAs, designed and built in 200"4", "5"th (top of the line)in the series lineup, "4" sets of speaker outputs (front and rear).

CD3424: "3" volts on the RCAs, designed and built in 200"4", "2nd in the series lineup, "4" sets of speaker outputs (front and rear).

The 55040 should have 5 volt preouts, 5th in the lineup, designed in 2004, no speaker outputs (RCA only). I cant remember what the first 0 is in that year model.
