Alpine Cd Changer Install Qestion - BMW Forum

i have a 2005 325i
my car already comes with the spot that can install the cd changer, but i didnt have one. so, i plan to buy a alpine, and one a website, they said i have to buy
[Alpine Ai-Net to M-Bus Adapter] [Soundgate Adapter]
just want to no, do i have to buy those? what is a soundgate adapter????where is that for?

If your car came "prewired for BMW changer", yes you will need that adapter to let the factory radio "talk" to the aftermarket cd changer. It will have instructions on how to install it, but it should plug into your existing wire on one end and into the aftermarket cd changer on the other end. Hope that helps...

Yes you will have to run the soundgate. That is what they had to do in my car when car toys installed the changer!

However that soundgate is extremely sensitive, when they installed mine it put a slight alternator whine into my system and it has been getting worse ever since! So make sure after they install it, you crank the system, and let the engine run up through the gears while listening for a whine coming through your speakers. It is best do this with a really quite home made CD, or something you know starts off really soft, or you might blow a speaker.
