My GF has a Apple Powerbook. When its closed the little light on the latch pulsates.... doesn't flash but pulses...
Once I get an alarm for my car I would like it to do that. I'm sure many of us know why it wouldn't be an easy task. I was just wondering if the leads from the alarm to led are constants and a flashing LED is used or if the power for the LED causes it to flash or will this vary from system to system? the system i'd be getting would be a stellar.
There are still lots of details to be worked out for such a project. Just looking for some prelimary info...
i know the led for my car alarm does the pulse deal like the macs, ill be home in a week or so ill ask the place that installed it how exactly to get it to do that

call up a place in your area that installs car alarms, and ask them how they would do it

Compustar is the shit! I don't sell them often, but I sold their top of the line 2 way system the other day. It has a round piece about an inch in diameter that mounts against your w/s from the inside that says "tap here to page owner" or something like that. The range is I think 1.25 miles. Pricey, but great units! I think the one I sold was like $499.95 installed? Also has the neutral safety switch built in for manual trans cars. Also has a turbo timer built in too! Anyway I can't think of anything else for now....I sell the Audiovox aps-996 the most, that is a badass reliable 2 way alarm...Goes for $399.95 installed...

Sounds a bit rich for my blood. but something to keep in mine.
If a had a newer ride I'd think harder about it..
Hell I'm starting to just think about doing a keyless because an alarm could be overkill for my 10year old baby with nothing other than a deck.
I really like the idea of the stellars because of the plugnplay and if did go with them i'd want the pulseing light rather than flashing... but no biggie.
yah the 2-way is the one i have with the 1.25 mile range, it also rolls my windows and sunroof up and down too B)

oh yah, the led deal that mounts on the windshield, it is supposed to be for passengers if you leave them in the car or something so they can page you if something is going on, if they tap the windshield it gives off a cell phone noise in the remote as well as a flashing phone light. my friends always used to tap the light when they'd walk by my car and it would go off in class and the teacher would yell at me for having a cell phone on, then id have to explain why it isn't a phone but my car alarm.

i hate to stray off the original topic, but ive heard that compustar is a lower end type of alarm system, still using the old FM band frequency which is much to easy to decode. also that it give false alarms as well as doesnt alarm when it should,
im comparing this to say.............hmmmmm.............say the clifford g5 or something like that.
