Aftermarket Hu Install Help...

I just got a new Alpine HU and am getting ready to install it.
I have a few questions that I hoped someone here might be able to answer for me.

1. I have a factory CD changer...has anyone successfully hooked one up to an aftermarket HU, and if so, where can I get the adapter?

2. what can i use for hooks to get the OEM system out of the dash?

3. i have seen a lot of pics, and it appears that i dont need a black plastic piece to put around the face of the unit? can someone confirm?


Also, I am going to buy the Ipod adapter for this system and was wondering if anyone had any ideas on where to put that thing...its about the size of two cigarette packs laid side by side...

I don't have the factory 6 disk in the trunk so i don't know about hooking that up but i've heard it's been done, not sure how tho. Search E-bay for the adapter, if there is such a thing it's on ebay. You don't need hooks, just take the screws out and pull on the lil flaps until it comes out enough to get ur figers in there. If ur worried about breaking the flaps (it doesn't matter cause u are replacing the hu anyways) try usin a couple screw drivers and just slide from side to side while pullin out a lil. It should pull out enough for u to grab it. Plastic peice? You mean the trim around the CD player? You don't need it but it looks alot nicer with it. CD players usually come with one, but if you don't have one i'm sure u can find one at your local Best Buy or Circuit City-well worth the 3 dollars. Good luck
