Aftermarket Amp to stock system?

I have tried to search this forum for similar threads and haven't found any yet - if anyone knows of one, please let me know.

I am new to the BMW world - just picked up a 98 328i sedan last december. It seems to have the standard business tape deck with CD changer in the trunk, and after playing with settings as much as I can, the system sounds 'so so' at best. A little muffled is the only description I can think of.

In my opinion, adding some power into the system would fire things up and make it sound real nice, since I'm sure the speakers are descent quality.

I happen to have a 4 channel 400W Clarion amp from a previous vehicle, and wonder how easy it would be to put this in the loop.

What other considerations are out there? Any suggestions on an amp install? I there an existing amp in this system somewhere that I haven't seen?

If you have the hk stock system, I know there's an amp hiding in there somewhere. If you don't have the premium sound package, I have no idea.

i dont really know your modell but if it doesnt have an amp(no premium sound kit) its fairly easy to connect the amp to the back speakers...the front ones can be a bit tricky but if youve got the time it shouldnt be a problem...pm me if you think i might be of assitance otherwise good luck!!
