Aftermaket Fog Lights

My friend has an 01' GTI and he is paying me to put on fog lights for him. Can anyone give any advice on how to go through the firewall? He would like to be able to turn the fog lights on alone. If I drill throught above the petals does that go directly through the firewall?

If worst comes to worse I am going to try and tap the original fog light connection... (yes he has foglights but they are the ones in the headlight enclosure so he wants ones down low) so If I tap those then will it work when he turns on the fog lights? For this alternative there are two possiblities on how to wire it. I will attach the two photos...

so basically:

*do the impossible the wire it through the firewall
*or both the fog wires
*wire it to one of the fog wires

ya know its easier to just rewire the switch for fogs only. You'd need to pull out an e39 wire diagram to verify the colors and junk though. I'll look for the link later. I'm just up early to avoid traffic after one of the interstates got messed by the rain yesterday.

As for you current wiring suggestions, I'd say none. Do the instructions say wire them in series? Unless they do, I'd wire them in parallel.

my bad...forgot its going in a vw. cant rewire the switch. Wire like in my diagram.

I figured it out, I tapped the original fog light wire and it turns on when that one goes on. It works amazingly, ill make a DIY later sometime
