I dont think there is a dbl din "kit" that you can purchase. I am pretty sure you will have to fab some mounts and a trim ring to go around the radio to finish it out. The opening is way too wide for any normal dbl din radio. Hope that helps...

to the forums btw.

Hey,
I had a DD installed in my E39. It was a custom install. It turned out great. It is a Pioneer AVIC 2.
BTW, there is no kit available to do this so a custom install is what is required. I am making another faceplate. If I knew how to post some pics I would but send me your email, I will send the pics. I love the look and the system.........

TwinQue,

I'd also be interested too. I'm sure that this wont be the last time someone asks this question. You can go to the vBgarage and post your picture there, and then use the URL from there to post pix in this forum.

Thanks in advance...
Bill

Bill will do soon. I actually did the cut out of the ABS plastic myself. I had a wood strip cut and shaped to replace the cassette door look. The radio fits nicely like OEM. To top it off, I sent the wood into this place to have it laminated with the exact wood grain match... It worked perfectly. Give me about 10 days and I will post pics. I also made 2 extra bezels for sale will include instructions......on how to get it laminated and install bezel.

Thanks gents. A lot of trial and era. Once I get rid of my extras, will post DIY instructions or/& be willing to do for others at minimal cost. I'll leave the custom dipping information also. I really like the way it turned out. It turned my 97 540i into a new car!!!!
