96 E36 - HK & CD Changer - Now MP3 Player?

I have a 1996 BMW 328i with a Harmon Kardon Sound system in it. I have the CD Changer in the trunk. I want to get an MP3 player (Ipod, RCA Lyra, etc) to be wired into my system, but the two aftermarket options that I saw (Peripheral & Blitzsafe) dont work with OE CD Changer. Has any one done this?

replace the changer with one that does play MP3s using peripheral or blitzsafe adapter to have it talk to your HU.

have you also considered using an RF modulator? It wouldnt work with the changer, but it may be cheaper.

cheaper ya. but then you also get to deal witht the stupid changer remote not to mention a place to put it and bit lower SQ.

If you want to add an ipod to an existing oem stereo, there is nothing to do. The ipod has a wireless fm blaster, meaning you can listen to your ipod on a nonexistent radio station (ex. 88.3FM). Yes it is RF which reduces SQ, but your talking about MP3 (a very compressed audio format). If your happy with your current set up, don't change anything your ipod will work fine.
