I'm looking to upgrade the speakers for my '93 325is. I looked through the archives and I looked at Crutchfield.

Anyway, can someone tell me how many speakers I have and what sizes they are?

Do I need to worry about depth at all?

Any preferred speakers for this car?

Anything else I need to look for?

Unsure about the sizes for the rear deck but think there about 4''

i've replaced my front speakers with infinity 5010cs reference series components - and when my stereo is working they are unbelievably good!

hope that helps.

Thanks Rich for the reply.

There are 4 total speakers right? Two in the back trunk and one in each door panel right? Crutchfield and the archives talk about a kicker panel speaker, but I don't see one.

Know what sizes the ones in the door panel are? 5 1/4?

The ones in the kick panel are 5.25. If you really want a loud system you can cut it out to fit 6.25s. The ones in the back are 4's. Im not sure what the tweeters are I think 1" and 3/4" or 1.25" and 1". For brands I recommend Infinity, Eclipse, MB Quart.. You would get alot better sound if you buy a component set with an amp.

Alright, I do see the kicker panel. My mistake. So that is 5 1/4.

So:
kicker panel - 5.25"

door panel
tweeter - 1"
midrange - 3.25"

rear - 4'
rear tweeter - 1"

Did you guys replace the midrange in the door panel? What do most people replace it with?

Ness hit it right on the head on the speaker sizes. My choice is Infinity for sure. It has a lot of features the others dont have, at the same price level.

Typically the kick panel is the one down by your feet in front of the door itself. Right next to the "dead pedal" on the drivers side. Some cars have them and others dont.

the infinitys tweeters dont stick up that far, it shouldnt be a problem to install them.
