how many of you would be interested in an oem-looking sub-box for an e39 to add your own speaker to? what about an e46?
the idea is that it would fit above the battery and replace the existing trunk trim piece. it would support up to a 10" woofer.
would you be interested in both left and right-side models?
what if it were to be avialable in a say 2 months?
i am working on something for the e39's initially. if you would be interested, please send an email to subbox@theunder.com indicating the following:
e39 or e46
right or left+right
i will put you on a mailing list. i will let you know in a week or so if this will really happen.

sounds very cool.
Left(drivers) side would prolly be better cause it is closer to the factory amp...
wont do me much good though cause i got a e36.

thx. i will be prototyping soon and will have pix to show.
for the e39/e46, there is more space for the box on the right. to put in on the left, means relocating the amps. i plan to do this in my ride - in fact, i have built an amp rack to hide in the factory place for the Nokia sub.
isn't there something on the market for the e36?

yeah. that basslink thing looks like someone dropped a rock in your trunk. hmm...
maybe the e36 should be in my repetoir as well. my wife drives a 97' 328 cab. i wonder if the corner of the trunk is the same...
if i had one for the e36 in the say $200-$250 range, would that intrest you? especially if it looked factory?

but mine would need to be futher customized... with its own amp and such because my factory amp is dead and bypassed. but the further customization i could handle.

I would definently be interested in one for my E46. It would need to look factory, and be efficent providing good sound production for a 10" sub.

You wouldn't really be able to do one in the e36, unless you were using an 8. The mounting depth just isn't there to allow for proper volume.

perhaps dual 8s is an option. one on each side? and just be sure one is reverse phase of the other i think.
I'd prolly be ok with just one 8.

duel 8's is a good idea. i will try to find an e36 to see what it looks like. my wifes is a convertable so the trunk is a little different.
it will be a minute though for the e36.

e46 update:
indeed the left side would be tough to do. there is not enough depth for 10. right side on the other hand looks fine. it would mount over the battery and be easily removed. it would "mold into the scenery" there.
thx all for the feedback. keep it comming.
