I have just bought this 325i and i would like to upgrade from the factory AM/FM cassette to a single cd player/ radio. I also need to replace or upgrade the door speakers (2 per door). This is my first BMW so any advice or help would be appreciated...

Thanks

If you replace the HU, then the two door speakers will not work without additional wiring. I suggest replacing the HU and bypassing the factory amp, then installing a component system in the kickpanel and factory speaker location. If you would like the door speakers to play, you could rewire those to be your rear channels and have all the speakers up front working.

I was under the impression that you could use your aftermarket deck's speaker leads as sort of a hi-level input to the oem amp. Not the best way to go, but it is simple, and all your speakers will work.

Upon replacing all your speakers, you would DEFFINATELY want to bypass the amp.
