98three28i is an unknown quantity at this point
Installed a new headunit in a 98 328i with the HK system, but bypassed all of the wiring except the amp remote turn-on and certain speaker wires. Can anyone point out or explain which source would be suitable for powering the HU. The HU is a Clarion ProAudio which does not have a built in amplifier and only has pre-outs. Also, where should I ground the HU near the dash location???

thanks

The factory power and ground wires are sufficient for an aftermarket application. The only place that would be better is running a piece of 10ga. wire out to the battery (fusing it out there) and putting relays in there to turn on/off the radio, triggered by the factory key switch.
