There isnt really a "best" out there. I would suggest listening to as many as you can stand, then listen to them again. Have an amp in mind too, and/or listen to them together if possible. The sub that sounds the best to you will jump out and say "buy me". Another suggestion is go by yourself. Whether or not you believe it your friends will have more of an influence on YOU buying YOUR subs than what you think. If you can, bring in your own CD that you are REAL familiar with the bass track, and listen to that same track when comparing. You'll get the best sound for your ears.

Hope that helps...

Gotcha. I have Focal subs in my car, a little pricey for most, but I worked 16+ years professionally in car audio, so I pretty much had my choice. Still have them after 6 years. Alpine, Infinity, JL Audio, Kicker, pretty much any NAME brand will get ya started. These guys havent been in business for well over 25 years by making bad products. They know what works and what doesnt. I know what their R&D departments go through. I helped develop a sub for the shop I used to work for, so we could say we had something no one else has or could get. We worked and changed that sucker for over 2 years, trial and error to get it to where we wanted it.

I used to work for a high end car audio place and people asked me all the time what the best was. Some of the time i told them my actual opinion. Other times i told them the "best" was which ever made me the most money. IMO Diamond Audio, Focal, Boston Acoustic, and Apline are some of the best out there. But in all reality... it is what sounds the best to your ear. Good luck with your search
