The problem was the previous owner had an aftermarket system installed and when it was sold the factory stuff was reinstalled but not connected properly.
Interesting. I've seen security systems in radios that wont allow the radio to turn on at all without a code, but not one that works, then shuts off. Glad you got it fixed. to the forums btw...
