Nothing. It is normal for it to stay on for approximately 18 minutes (the time necessary for the computer to realize that it is time to go to sleep, and shut down).

If it stays on for longer than that, it should be investigated. This is a rare occurrence, and could drain your battery over time.

My first also, and I asked the same question. After being told about the response
you got, I went outside, and before unlocking the door, I looked inside, and sure
enough, the light was off. What was happening was, when you open the door, that
light comes on, and stays the duration, and like he said, it takes about 16 minutes
to go to sleep, so it is hard to ever see it off without knowing the operation!

Do not be afraid to ask questions, as there is a wealth of experience out there, with lots of good people willing to share. These cars are so complex, that without a dedicated mechanic, it takes the combined experience of hundreds of owners to make sense of them. There is not a single problem with these cars which has not popped up on the various forums....use the search feature to find them.
