My self leveling just stopped working as of yesterday! Great Christmas Gift. Is it worth fixing the self leveling system or would it be better to replace with shocks? Have any idea on cost of either? Also, if I do go with shocks, which are recommended? Thanks.

I took the self leveling off of my 6er!
seemed like in the big picture it would be cheaper!
Good luck and let us know what you decide!

Lot of controversy here. I have heard from several converters that they were unhappy with the ride after removing the LAD system. You can buy new LAD struts for your car from EUROWEB parts in ST Petersburg, FL for (are you ready) $385.00 each plus shipping. If you have a spring compressor, you can do the job yourself, albeit the rear seat removal is a PITA but you are saving money. I just did my 1988 750il (140,000 miles and the struts died), took me a few hours, but I am a happy guy.

I had the dealer do mine.
I think it cost me close to $2K.
