z3 top problem

its a 2000 z3 with 80k on the clock, auto 2.3

im thinking of getting it, but theres a problem with the top...cant put the top down, no matter how many times u push the button, it wont put the top down, it will put it up and close it, but wont put it down? i read somewhere about some guy in his 2001 z3 that he had to press the brake in to have the top down, dunno if this would apply to a 2000 model as well...

anyone what it could be? besides the pressing the brake pedal in?
