ruzo is an unknown quantity at this point
just bought a 2000 z3 coupe with 36k last night. tonight i have a yellow light that looks like a picture of an engine on my dashboard that wasnt there last night. of course the car didnt come with a manual. can anyone tell me what this means please? thank you, ruzo

Yes but on the E36 and E46, Base cluster or High Cluster, the only check engine light says bluntly "check engine" no pictogram...nothing that even really looks like an engine in pictogram form. this is why I'm curious

I've got the 2000 Z3 manual right here because the engine light just went on for me too. The manual states: "Check engine lamp. If the indicator lamp comes on either continuously or intermittently, this indicates a fault in the emission-related electronic systems. Although the vehicle remains operational, you should have the systems checked by your BMW center at the earliest possible opportunity."

Anyone know what may cause this warning? I sure would like to know a bit more before I hand it over to the repair shop (no warranty left for me).
