I have a 1997 740il...transfail safe light comes on at slow speeds... shop kept for 3 1/2 months got it back and it is worse shape...ecu changed and they said the valve body is good...is the only choice a new transmission

that sucks i have a 1999 with 14x,xxx on it how many miles are on yours they usually go out between 100k and 170k depending on the driver
it minght be sensing slippage int he transmission How Was the maintaince on the trans. fluid and filter changes ? dealer or shop?
WTF ECU changed? WHY?? ask them that also unplugg the battery for like 10 mins then try again
