Mini Cooper Power Steering

Does anyone know if it is possible to reprogram the Mini Cooper ECU to bring on power steering sooner and at narrower steering angles. For example, whenever the steering wheel is not in the straight ahead position. I know this should be based on the input data from the LWS-Steering Angle Sensor. I am wondering whether or not this is a programmable setting or not. Aftermarket pointers are also acceptable. Thanks. -- Joel

nope sorry. unless you had the power steering module sent out to be reprogramed that is not possible. the ecu doesn't control the power steering there is actually a separate module that is actually in the pump itself that would control what you are talking about. and to be honset if you did find a company that could reprogram the power steering module it could be a waste of money becasue it is a very common problem with mini's that they have the pumps go out or the modules fail and the whole pump has to be replaced becasue the module is inside the pump.
