mrclean is an unknown quantity at this point
I notice that my 85 735I has a port on it to hook a computer up to it. Is there a place that I can get an adapter so I can hook it up to my laptop and see whats going on in my motor, or is it impossible to find these anymore?

1985 is an OBD1 car. Youre not going to find any reasonably priced software for your PC that will diagnose your car. If youre looking for engine diagnostics you will find that the vehicles control module doesnt have a very sophisticated fault memory anyway. A simple "stomp test" should be all you will ever need to diagnose the engine.
