serrano is an unknown quantity at this point
Greetings to all;

I have an 01 X5 3.0 and it started to develop a grinding noise in the last litle while coming from the inside of the engine bay.
It was diagnosed as a faulty Belt Tensioner;
Here is the list of parts that I suposedlly need, has anyone changed these before, is this a do it yourself job ?? all Help is preciated.
It seems that its the same parts as for the E36

11-28-1-706-545 FAN BELT

11-28-1-726-774 E36 PLATE

11-28-1-726-773 E36 PITMAN ARM

11-28-1-748-131 E36 ADJUSTING PULLE

07-1 1-9-920-1 50 BOLT

11-28-1-717-188 E36 BELT TENSIONER

07-11-9-913-111 HEX BOLT M8X35

07-1 1-9-912-652 HEX BOLT M8X50

07-11-9-901-785 HEX BOLT M8X105

11-28-1-440-369 E36 FLAT WASHER

07-1 1-9-932-121 WAVE WASHER

11-28-1-727-159 E36 PROTECTION CAP

12-31-1-713-143 E36 PROTECTION CAP

11-28-1-730-532 E36 PROTECTION RING

Total for the parts is around 380/460 CAD
do I need all the nuts and bolts ??

That parts list is taken off of a service bulletin that updates the mechanical tensioner (originally on the vehicle), and installs a hydraulic tensioner.

Yes, all those parts are needed, as it's a different mounting setup and tensioner altogether. If you are out of warranty, and want to go cheaper, you can reuse the original belt........IF it's in good shape.

If you insist, you can have the original style installed, but I'm not sure if it's a cheaper part.......the new style is better.......that's why there's a bulletin on it.
