97 - z3 needs trailing arm maybe ??

Just told I "may" need a new trailing arm
driver rear. This Z3 has 197K miles and previous driver hit curb "lightly".

How do I know if the arm is bad, or just worn bushings?

Also where can I get a trailing arm? BMW wants 660$+ for one.

Any advise appreciated.

Smile shop had wrong diagnosis

It turns out the shop was wrong.

After spending a fair amount of time under with a measuring tape,
getting new tires
and very careful inspection,
and an alignment at a different shop
it turns out that my trailing arm is fine.

I am happy, but wasted listening to "experts" in
front end alignments. Guess they do not know
rear-end alignments.

Thanks for the replies - mike
