I have a 2001 740il with 83000 miles on it. I purchased it about 10000 miles ago and would like your opinions on changing the auto trans fluid. I have used Amsoil Synthetics for many years in all my other vehicles with great success. the manual says its filled for life, I don't believe thats the best thing for long life, what do you guys think. Should I change to Amsoil trans fluid???

BMW transmissions require very specific transmission fluids. SHould be a transmission fluid part # stamped on the transmission bottom

go to www.e38.org for more info......good luck

I thought I responded to this already.....hhmm.....
BMW doesn't even recommend a service at all. Personally, Amsoil fluid may be all right for it, but who knows? I don't see why not?

I'm an Amsoil dealer, btw...... :P
