Hello all, first post here! I've been reading the boards for a while now.

Anyways, I'm looking at buying a 1986 BMW 635CSI, and would like to know if there's anything I should check for that is a problem with these cars, and if it's worth buying at all. What I know is that the car has 96,000 miles on the odometer, is black with the red interior, and has a manual transmission (a must for me, and I've come to realize how rare they're becoming). The asking price is $5,300.

I have yet to test drive this particular 6, but I just recently test drove another (with an automatic, ugh) that had 172,000 on the clock and I loved it.

Any insights? Any owners willing to lend their experience?

It will be driven pretty often, though not every day as I've also got a 2000 Honda Civic LX. It won't see the winter weather, and will be garaged during the season.

Thanks a lot! I'm coming to love these forums!

Rob

I would love to give you some info but, the'88-'89 6er is a completely different beast!
Plus I was checking my odometer the other day and I'v only put like 200 miles on my car in a year!
I've put a 1000 miles on it in like 5 years!
Mine has been trouble free but, I don't drive it alot so It would be hard for me to tell you what to watch out for.
I will tell you this, I only drive my 6er on the autocross track (and the occasional car show) and it has never left me stranded or needed any major work (only the fun stuff has cost me alot)!
Anyway, if you get it please post some pics!
Good luck on your maybe future purchase!
