Installing New E21 Hood Insulation

Could someone please either direct me to an old thread that has any tips on doing this? Tried using the Search feature, but couldn't find anything. I've already removed my old dried up foam sound deadening material on my '82 E21. I'm going to get a new one from my local BMW parts shop (Mesa Performance in Costa Mesa, CA).

Just curious if anyone's done this and can offer any tips. Or does the new one simply have the peel off backing and get stuck to the hood? Removing the old glue is a major pain. It came off around the edges, but most of it is still on there. I'm thinking that, hopefully, the new self adhesive foam will stick to the hood and I'm done.

There are two small bars that go from left to right and attach to the hood hinges, however. Those look like the only area of difficulty, so far. Thanks in advance.
