03' M5 overheating

Yesterday I was driving through my neghiborhood and the engine temp indicator came on my info center. The temp was all the way in the red and so I quickly switched on the heater and the a/c off. It was a warm day here in cali. But this has me worried. Espicially sice I replaced a Porsche 993 (a car with no coolant) with this M5 .
So my question is do these have crappy plastic impellors in the water pump that some german manufacturers love to use that totally love to suck? My car only has 63K on it so this is not right!
