i do know that there is a memo button on the obc's in 3 series which when it is enabled it chimes 3 times every 30 or 60 min... maybe there is a similar setting on the 7 series? look through your owners manual about the on board computer and see if it has anything like "memos" or anything.

hopefully someone with a 7 will chime in (no pun intended) , but i havent ever owned one so my knowledge is limited...

edit: there are also chimes when the weather gets below 37 degrees to warn you to look for ice...
