Im not positive on this but i fixed mying by-Turn the key to the on position.Press and hold the reset button for about 10 sec.,or so.You will see rest apear.Then keep pressing the rest button.It should say reset 1-16.Then turn the key like your going to start the car.Then all the insterment lights will come on and speedometer will go all the way to the 140 and max rpm will show.It sound crazy but it worked.Let me know if it worked for you.This was on a 2000 528i.
