He is wise. The Z3 is a hybrid of sorts and indeed has an E36/7 chasis/body style code. Note the difference from the engine codes. The 2.3 vs. 2.5 issue is somewhat news to me but makes perfect sense as the supercharged dyno #'s made little sense to me with the "2.3" blowing as hard (or a wee bit harder even) than the 2.5 that's in my 2002 (last production year) Z3. Enjoy it.
