I have a 1990 325ic and the low beams do not work (they work with the high beams) I understand this is a multi-filament lamp and the fuses are good so I, again (did this six months ago) suspect the low beam relay. However, there is a low beam check relay as well, and can someone tell me what this does.
No, stock head lamps are not multi-filament. The low beam check relay activates the warning lamp system above the rear view mirror (if equipped). Your problem sounds like a bad low beam relay or a fault in your combination switch. Unless your head lamps are aftermarket, then you could have other electrical issues.
Thank you. I was under the impression that the low beams had dual filiments so they could work as a low beam or in conjunction with the high beams. You may have no low beam but turn on the high beams and the lows work along with the high beams.
