X5 Inspection Light - What service is recommended?

My wife's 2001 X5 just turned ~58k miles and the inspection light came on. Any recommendations out there on what service to have done or decline? The dealer says its a differential fluid change and oil change and they inspect the whole vehicle. Telling my its gonna run about $500. I'll do it if its the right thing to do, but am not interested in just tossing money at them. We've kept the oil changed whenever it suggested. Any thoughts and/or adice is appreciated. THANKS!

The inspection service on a 2001 is only an engine oil change and a microfilter replacement. All of the other fluids are considered "lifetime"
The extensive check that the dealer does though is a good thing. Its nice to have a trained professional go over your car and check the brakes, do a diagnostic check, check for any fluid leaks, test AC system etc. These are all checks that are done on an INSPECTION service. Whether or not that is worth $500 is up to you.
