Windscreen Wipers

Good Evening,

I am having problems with my windshield wipers on my 98" 540I. They will not operate. I ohmed out the fuses (good). I checked the voltage entering the fuses (12.54 VDC). I even tried to manually move them in the event ghead there was a bad spot in the motor (no luck).

Is there a relay, hidden fuse, or something else I can verify/inspect? Or does someone have a block diagram I can review.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

It may be as simple as the cam nut being loose. If you can hear the motor running but no wipping action than this is the problem.

If this is the case. You will see a plastic grommet on the driver side wipper arm (bottom). Pop this off anf you will be able to see and tighen the nut.

The wiper relay is K11 this is in the rear RH side of engine compartment in electronics box it is the taller relay

Big Joe B - Did you ever find out the cause / fix for your wiper problem. Mine have a somewhat stuttered movement and occasionally do not work at all (pain in the butt when this happens when it's raining). I have checked the nuts and the fuses in the glove box and they are ok - cannot find the source of the problem.

Was the relay the issue? If so, do you have any pictures or a description on how to replace?

Does anyone know if the K11 relay mentioned above is the same relay for the wipers in a 95 325i convertible? I can't seem to find any photos in my manual of relays or their location. my fuse box only has a good listing of location and function of all fuses.
