Help, my window is off track and stuck in the down position.
If anyone has made this repair, please give me some feedback, otherwise I'm going to the mechanic.used: used:
99.9% sure you need a new window regulator. Very common problem on all the E38, E39, E46, and X5's. We do at least 5-6 a month at the BMW shop I work at.
It doesn't necessarily need a new regulator. Mine came off of the tracks at one point but all it needed was to be reinserted into the 'push-button' track supports (on my E34). Not quite sure of the E39 models, though.
If you feel comfortable enough taking your door panels off, try finding out if anything looks misplaced in there.
I fixed the window regulator, thanks to BMW tips.com and thanks for the inpute from you guys here. Total job cost me $200 for the part and a good 3 hours of my time.B)
