Will A 540 Engine...

Hey guys, i've been wondering, since my car is auto, and the m5 swap would completley ahnilate my wallet and probably take months...

Would a 540 engine work with the existing equipment in my car, as far as mounts, transmission, differential and ECU?

yes it would work beautifully if you are prepared to spend vast amounts of money on some of the following mods :

Engine mounts.
Engine mount fitting
Changing driveshaft lenght then getting it balanced
Finding a bellhousing that will match the back of the 540 block and then matching to your existing transmission,if in fact the one you have at present will take the 282hp ?
Speedo cable
Bigger radiator and plumbing all round for the heater and aircon etc.
Cross member could be a real issue for you.

The list is endless not to mention software for the commputer etc.
It may be a wise move to trade up and get a 540,you would not be dissapointed.

heh, i figured an e34 540 engine would just sorta, fit in any e34 chassis, but your right about the tranny and ecu...sounds like more than it's worth.
