Why is my steering light at all times?

I have a 14995 540i M-Sport. The steering is light all the time, regardless of what speed I am driving. Any idea what is causing this? How does Servotronic work? How does it detect speed in order for it to adjust power assist?

Nope. Proxes @ 30lbs each. It is a vague feeling and very easy to steer even at highway speeds.

This is strange as if the pump was playing up it would go hard to steer, I think you best bet would be to take it to a power steering place.
