Never owned a BMW before - am learning the hard way about expenses
God bless the free maintantrence - my concern is what happens at 50k miles and it is over - residual value is estimated at what about $30k maybe?
any veterans have any ideas?
would like to continue driving a bmw - should i extend the warranty? if so when? and to what level?

Warranty is always a good idea for couple of reasons:
Protecting your investment, adds value if you ever want to resell it and of course the peace of mind you get.
Having said that, you can extend the warranty I believe within 5-10k miles before the manufacture warranty is over.
Another thing you can do is certify the car, which will add up to 7 year or 100k miles which ever comes first. But if you do certify the car, there are some things you need to be aware of:
You must go back to the same dealer you bought the car from to be certified, and if you do certify the car you have to maintain the car at BMW dealers ONLY at all time or the warranty will be voided (Oil Changes, Tires, any modifications…etc) I would suggest that you talk to your BMW dealer to find out your options.
