Wheels, spacers and headaches

Help. I just bought rims and tires for my 1988 528e after being assured that they would fit. The offset is wrong and so, I need to either get wheel spacers or a whole new set up. Currently the car has the metric version of the bottlecap rims and as you know, it is impossible to find those tires. So, I figured I'd entirely upgrade. However, now I have this problem.

(1) Is getting spacers a good idea? I have hear it is "not a good idea."
(2)If so, any suggestions for where to get them inexpensivesly?
(3)If so, how big of an offset will I need if I have the 1988 528e and these are the tires I have "BMW 1180447-5 7JX15" they are off of a 1992 325i.

go to abac tyres.com they list all the pcd offset and hub dimensions you req hope this helps ps hub centres have to be a good fit on my car i have e39 rims 7inch by 16 25550s these are on a 530 e34 1990 model centre hub sizes do vary mine req spigot rings to stop the severe vibration whilst driving they fit in the centre of the wheel to match yur hub size on the car on the issue of spacers would not reccomend using them you may need longer wheel bolts not to mention the load on the wheel bearings let me know how u get on if you cant find info and ill locate it and post it on here regards jimbob
