Wheel alignment weight bags?

Replaced the tires on my 2003 525 and the tire shop said they couldn't do an alignment because they don't have "weight bags". Never heard anything like this when my 1999 528 got tires and an alignment. Are the weight bags necessary? Does any national chain of tire stores do this alignment?

Nah! give them a miss, here in the U.K we have Lazer alignment, you must have it over there, as I know where I go the equipment has made in the U.S.A on it.

Also once I went in for it they did put some weights in the trunk.

If your vehicle height has not been altered (Dropped) you shouldnt have a problem with getting alignment without the weight. Most of the time the rear alignment would not be out of alignment unless you have worn suspension parts.

get a shop to weigh the car with what you normally carry in the car and a weight for you in the driver seat a GOOD alignment shop will do this My seven had a TO BMW SPEC alignment and it didnt feel right so I put it on a alignment rack and found they didn't pu enough camber on the rear wheels because I dont carry anything in the trunk and they weighed it down to BMW's spec which isn't what the real world conditions were...
